In 2025, Tanger Med handled 11.1 million containers, a continental record. But a bridge is judged by both its banks, and the southern one remains largely untapped.
Efficient Network Engages at the Launch of the IEA World Energy Outlook 2024
At the unveiling of the IEA's flagship report, Efficient Network joined leading global energy stakeholders to debate how a record year of investment can be channelled into a fair and efficient transition.
Efficient Network took an active part in the launch of the World Energy Outlook 2024, the annual flagship report published by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The event brought together major global energy stakeholders, policymakers and industry leaders to assess the state of the energy transition and the road ahead.
A record year of investment
The World Energy Outlook 2024 set the tone for the discussions by reporting a record investment of more than $2,000 billion in the energy transition in 2024. This figure provided a solid foundation for debate, underscoring both the scale of capital now flowing into clean energy and the questions that remain about how it is allocated across regions and technologies.
Contributing across three priority workshops
Efficient Network engaged in workshops dedicated to three priority themes shaping the transition. The first focused on electrification and the build-out of the infrastructure needed to support rising electricity demand. The second addressed hydrogen hubs and their role in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors. The third examined energy equity and the imperative of ensuring that the benefits of the transition are shared fairly.
Across these sessions, Efficient Network shared its expertise in energy transition, drawing on its work advising clients across the Middle East and Africa on strategy, commodities and the deployment of new energy systems.
The case for harmonised global roadmaps
A central theme of Efficient Network's contribution was the need for harmonised global roadmaps. The firm argued that without coordinated planning across markets, the momentum captured in the WEO 2024 figures risks being fragmented and uneven.
Efficient Network emphasised the need for harmonised global roadmaps to ensure a transition that is just, efficient and aligned with climate objectives.
By engaging at the launch of the World Energy Outlook 2024, Efficient Network reaffirmed its commitment to supporting an energy transition that is both ambitious and inclusive, and to helping the region translate record investment into durable, equitable progress.
